Tour the abandoned Buchanan School – DCINITY PODCAST S1 E01

Check out our very first episode!

On March 17, 2016, @acreativedc posted an image by @gokateshoot outlining an event by @dittoresidential.
Here’s the text from @acreativedc‘s instagram:

F R E E ✨ S T U F F , via the folks at @dittoresidential: In an effort to support our local creatives and keep things out of the dump, Ditto Residential invites you to the historic Buchanan School building to take any treasure left behind before we begin construction. There are years worth of mid-century tables, chairs, desk, bookshelves, books, and much more.
When:
Thursday, March 17th from 1:00 to 5:00 pm
Where:
1325 D Street SE
entrance is behind the building in parking lot in the alley between the school and Safeway.
*PARK IN THE STREET!
Happy hunting!
Heads up: the building is over 100 years old and in poor condition in some locations. If you join us, please wear appropriate shoes. There is no elevator – if you’re interested in large pieces, bring a friend or two!

I happened to come across this photo around 1pm that day and on a whim, I decided to shoot over to the Buchanan School to see what was going on.
I had no idea who was going to be there or what i would find, but I had been meaning to get this podcast off the ground…so i thought it the perfect opportunity.

I had a great time, and met some very cool people.
Check out some of the photos I snapped:
